Julia tried to pass the headband off to Antonio and bless his devoted heart. He simply stood there and allowed her to scrunch it on his head with nary an objection. Too bad her mother didn't catch it on camera.
He then took to chauffeuring her about in the stroller, while periodically stopping to check on her well-being before resuming the ride.
While initiating a friendship with a cat or a "neeee" she is confused and rather offended by his sudden departure, as is evidenced by her hand gestures.
Antonio, an adorable two year old American who likes to chant her name while finding daring ways to impress her. He also likes to take her by the hand. She plays it cool, but he is pretty hard to resist. His mom says he always talks about Julia at home.
When I happened upon this scene, I knew who to blame. She has been mercilessly subjected to this extreme form of snuggling for 16 long months. And now she is taking it out on her doll.
We went to a park where my only intention was to put out a blanket and smother her with the suffocating smooches of any good mother. But alas, all she wanted to do was scamper about chasing everything on two or four legs. I am not worried, the day isn't over. I will employ a four-point restraint and I get my Mother's Day wish.
Possibly one of the best times she has had in her 479 days in this world. Giulia and Julia never strayed more than a few inches from each other. After a few scribbles, one would rise and move to a blank slate and the other, invariably, would pack up their pieces of chalk and follow.
