There is a particular shrieking sound that she does that her father has appropriated for himself and defined the meaning as: "I want to give daddy a kiss".  Lucky man, as she makes this sound All. The. Time.  Her kisses basically involve opening her mouth very wide, licking his face and closing her mouth around his cheek - leaving his face looking like he just got out of the shower. 



And now that she can use her hands, she likes to caress his face during the process.

15 Minutes Old

Directly after she was born, Julia's adorable Aunt Anna snapped a picture with her cell, even though the signs on the wall expressly forbade it.  Yesterday she figured out a way to get it off her phone and onto the computer.

So here we are, I am talking to mom on the phone and little girl, less than a quarter hour old, is looking straight into the lens of the camera.  She was born with her peepers wide open and has only blinked a handful of times since then.

We went to a park to watch daddy and bro play soccer and then went to our favorite place for gelato in front of the Pantheon. 

 

Of course, the entire day was peppered with an excessive amount of kisses from all.

A Nice Way to Pass a Spring Day

Today baby girl and I went to a park, layed down some blankets and just snuggled, smooched and giggled the afternoon away.



She has found a new application for the dresses I put on her - a tasty snack.  It wouldn't bother me, although when people stop to peer inside the carriage, they often find her with her dress completely over her head.



The Principessina's New Throne

Baby girl has a new pedestal from which she may receive her many admirers.

It goes by too fast!  Just last week she couldn't hold the book by herself.  Now, she is not only agile enough to guide it to her mouth - but she is also able to attack it in much the same manner her Uncles Michael and Matthew would the meat platter at Tucano's.

In the last few days she has been experimenting with all her mouth noises. Here is a small sampling of her running monologues:

Four months old today!

Remarkable Genuis? Her mommy sure thinks so.

The last two weeks have been fun because little girl is starting to experiment with her vocal chords.  A couple days ago Leonardo started playing this game with her during her long-winded soliloquys - much to her delight.  Now even if she has been silent for hours - pat her mouth and she will get started again.  Stop and she does too.

When Julia wanted Giovanni to wake up, she decided to crawl under the covers and favor him with a few wet kisses.



I didn't realize a teenage boy could actually be happy to wake up early on a Sunday morning.

Mother's Day

My new favorite holiday.  We played at the park, I got an obscene amount of kisses and a bouquet of flowers.  What's not to love?

We got one for her and her eyes didn't leave it for a second.
